Have you ever heard about chaise lounge? Well, for some people, chaise lounge is identical with psychoanalysis or psychotherapy. In psychiatrists’ office for instance, there must be one chaise lounge. But now, this kind of chairs can be owned by anyone with any purpose and functions. Mostly, the chair is used to relax by the owner. It can be the place where someone sleeps, too.
The History of Chaise Lounge People Might Not Know
Chaise lounge is actually originated from Egypt as the combination of day bed and chair. The regular beds at that time were quite similar to the beds nowadays. But the difference is that it had slant slightly downward and the headplace that were made of stones, woods, or the other materials. It means that at that time Egyptians did not use pillow. They thought it was not important.
Other antique chaise lounge and its history come from the ancients of Mesopotamia. The lands such as Babylon, Sumer, and Assyria used this kind of chairs. But, it was only the rich and the royalty who used it every day. The other is from Greek ancient. Greeks often called this kind of chairs with a special name; it was a ‘kline’. In addition, they used this chaise lounge in party called symposium.
